Offer a Twitter Only Sale

twtqpon-logo Lots of businesses are using Twitter. More and more of these businesses are using Twitter to sell. While it is not really a great idea to push your product or service in every tweet, you do want to let your followers know what you have to offer. Are you offering a digital product such as an ebook or a service of some kind?

Services are available to help you sell on Twitter. One in particular is TwtQpon. TwtQpon is a great way to offer a special deal for your followers. Here’s how to make a coupon.

The Form

  1. Start off by filling in your Twitter account name in the first box.
  2. The title of the promotion is what catches people’s attention so put some thought into it.
  3. In the next text box, you have (you guessed it) 140 characters to describe the promotion.
  4. You can add in an image if you’d like. If you have a logo, use it here.
  5. Next you can add in a promo code. Using a specific promo code will help you gauge how effective your Twitter promotions are. If you tweet at different times of the day or use different wording, this is a great way to test what your followers will respond to.
  6. The page you redirect people to is a big deal. People who make it this far have interest, the landing page you redirect them to needs to seal the deal.
  7. It is a good idea to use an expiration date, it creates a sense of urgency.
  8. When you have the form filled out, click the create button at the bottom. You are redirected to a view of what your followers will see when they click your link. Test everything to make sure it all works, then tweet it.

In the next screen, you can view the same page people who click the link in your tweet will see. Make sure all the information is correct, then tweet it to your followers.

If you would like to track it, you can use sale or topic specific hashtag. Adding a column in Tweetdeck or Hootsuite to track the URL and/or the hashtag will let you know how viral your tweet is.

If your sale does not take off the way you’d like it to, try changing the wording or time of day you send the message. Also, send it multiple times over the course of a couple days.

Using the links at the top to share your coupon on different social sites.

Here is what it looks like when you tweet it.

  5. Tip* to deliver updated content everyday on twitter, you can utilize a news aggregator or RSS feed, you can also post at predetermined times during the day. The maximum tweets you should post daily must be between 2 and 4. more than 5 tweets is overkill.
