Is Twitter Where You Go To Bitch?

bitching-stopcomplainingOne of the easiest things to do on any social media site is to add your 2 cents into the conversation. Whether it’s commenting on a blog, tweeting a link, replying to a status message or starting a thread on a forum, it’s easy to get in there and say what you want to say. That being said, over the past few weeks I have really been noticing how many people use Twitter to complain.

It seems like there are a few different groups of people. These groups use Twitter in very different ways.

Groups

1. The first group is always happy. Always saying good morning, its a great day and spreading love like digital hippies (not a bad thing, hippies are good peoples in my book).

2. The middle group seems to really “get” it. They understand social media is about the community and the relationships, NOT selling and preaching.

3. Another group uses uses Twitter as a place to digitally voice their disdain for anything different than they would like it to be.

Being positive is usually better than being the person who is always bitching about something. I’m not trying to say you can’t vent or rally tweeples against an evil committed against you. What I AM saying is to have fun and be yourself. Unless yourself does nothing but complain and talk about how your life sucks. No one likes to hear you complain all the time.

With all the other negativity on the news, drama at work, in relationships… Don’t publicly display your extreme dislike for the neighbors long grass. Either do something about it or SHUT UP!

Perfect Timing

As I’m sitting in an office waiting area waiting to be helped, I hear the two people doing nothing but complain. I have been here for about 20 minutes (I was late for an appointment). While they are helping other people, all I hear is them yelling across the office to each other. One out of every ten comments was NOT negative.

Quote

One of my favorite quotes of all time is:

To conquer oneself is a greater task than conquering others ~ Buddha

What it means to me is get your life on track before you tell other people how to live theirs.

Or, people in glass houses shouldn’t complain that people can see them and throw rocks at them to get the peeping-toms to stop staring at them. Okay, I just made that one up. Maybe it will stick and I’ll be famous!!! Yeah, I don’t think so either.

In the end, all I’m trying to get at is – If your life sucks and you are unhappy, do something about it. If you don’t know what to do, here are some motivational books on Amazon. Stop complaining to deaf ears, we don’t care!

Did that come off like I was bitching about people bitching? Complain about how I am a hypocrite in the comments.
